Painting with the cousins

Grammanita planned a fun activity for the boys, she got them together with all the other little cousins and they PAINTED!

While waiting for the bird houses to be delivered they tested their art skills out on paper

 THIS was the end results

(Big H really was having fun, he just didn't want a pic) haha too bad bud

Then the bird houses arrived and the boys got to business painting those!
Lil H chose his favorite colors of Blue and Yellow

Big H chose to use ALL of the colors...

They had alot of fun and had the honor of being sprayed off by the hose when they got home! ;) jk
And like a proud mother would do, we put the paintings on the fridge when we got home GOOD JOB boys!

THANKS GRAMMANITA!

The BIG toe

Sometimes I wonder just how many times your child will have to experience something unpleasant til they learn to stop doing something.....for example biting their toe nails.  Yeah we have had 2 experiences with Lil H in the past 3 months where he had to have an ingrown toenail taken care by the doctor. And it was the SAME toe both times! The first time he had to see a doctor it was for the inside part of his big toe, the second time for the same thing but for the outside part of the nail on the big toe! Same toe just different side! Thank goodness the same doctor didn't have to deal with him twice! And thank goodness that Derek was there to hold him the first time, and let him play Angry Birds on his phone.

Nothing like sucker aka "bribery" as soon as you get in the room!

The second time he had to have it taken care of, the doctor actually let he and Big H play with his Ipad. Thank goodness for technology huh? haha

"Mom I have a Shrek toe!"- Lil H :)

Angry Birds band aids make everything feel better, and I must say not a bad bandaging job by me!

Well I guess the good thing to come out of this if you try and find a positive is that he shouldn't have anymore issues with THAT big toe, because they put chemical in it both times, both sides that will prevent the chances of getting ingrown again! Time will tell I guess..... or here's a thought, just STOP BITING Lil man! :)

HAPPY FATHERS DAY-to Derek

I just want to say how lucky I feel to have Derek in my life! He is such an amazing friend, husband, but especially dad. He is a great example to our boys in so many ways! If they grew up to be just like him I would consider myself one lucky gal! For Fathers Day this year, the boys decided they wanted to get him a bike! So we DID! :)

I was a little worried he wouldn't like it.......I am not sure what to look for in a bike!

He has used it a lot already, so I will take that as a sign he likes it! :)

Big H's Summertime Itinerary

Big H sat down one day in early June and wrote down an itinerary for this summer. I really don't have much to say other than.....pretty impressive!

my FAVORITE part of it though was DO WHATEVER! How nice would that be? Oh to be a care free kid again! lol Gotta love him :)

Soccer 2012

This past Spring I agreed to coach Big H is soccer again. I was excited to have 3 boys from my team last year, because they had been taught and knew "my" coaching style. I found out I had 14 kids on the team and in U8 you only play 7 kids at a time, and was not quite sure what to think about that...And to add to all of my optimism we had a Goalie this year! WHO wants to be Goalie??? Well, thank goodness some kids wanted to give it a shot. To be honest after the first practice I went home and told Derek I was not sure I would be able to, or even wanted to coach this year.  I will just say the first practice was an interesting one.

After the first game I really wanted to ask another parent if they wanted to coach, because I was just not sure I was right for this group of kids.  I was just not sure if I would be able to teach these kids what I would want them to learn, and if I did, IF they would be receptive. Now I know you are probably thinking oh come Jen, they are only 7 & 8 year olds....take it easy or chill a little.  But I guess I just had high expectations!
I will admit I have been known to run down the sideline as we move the ball down field.... when it comes to coaching I am a "PACER" I cannot just sit down or stand on the sidelines, and the parents and players learn early on to keep the sideline clear for me to pace! haha I also have a tendency to "get into" the game, for example I was so excited that we were about to score, I stood on the sideline and kicked an "imaginary" ball with the player as he was getting ready to shoot, well not the wisest thing I have ever done......because my flip flop broke and went flying!! haha Needless to say I coached the rest of the year barefoot. So I can be a little animated also! Not Bobby Knight animated, just "into" the game :) lol

Can you say "GOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!" (#21 Big H)

Needless to say we started the season out 1-4.  I was a little flustered and wondered if they were catching "my way" of playing. I just saw SO much potential with this group of kids. Well, they worked hard every practice.  And I can happily say I think it paid off! We ended the season 6-4! Way to go LIGHTNING! I can honestly say they totally surpassed my expectations, and I look forward to hopefully coaching the same group of boys, again sometime.

Big H was excited and had his uniform set out the morning of his first game!

Lil H enjoyed looking like he was part of the team too!

Big H has such an AMAZING fan club!  Thanks for coming and cheering guys! (Adri is not picture)

Way to go H! :)

A "told you so" moment with the hub ;) haha

For years I have teased Derek about taking him off my health insurance policy I get through work.....I have also been telling him for 3 + years that he needed to go see a doctor. Why you may be wondering. Well with the health insurance policy he had NEVER used it in our married life! Don't get me wrong not complaining glad I have a healthy husband! And then while most people enjoy a bed time snack, midnight, "up in the night" snack ie..cookie, ice cream, fruit etc.....Dereks bedtime and midnight snack if you want to call it that consisted of TUMS!!! I swear it was EVERY night! Derek denies that claim so I will say it was only 6 nights a week! I'd even catch him sitting up in the middle of the night poppin' one in his mouth. He just thought that I was a paranoid wife!

So (in May) due to some wonderful "ties" at work, I scheduled Derek for a "CONSULT" with a doctor......and it was seriously like pulling teeth just to get him to agree to a consult! Well little did he know I had not only scheduled him a consult, I myself had also scheduled and registered him in the computer for an Endoscopy! haha

Well there were NO pictures allowed (by Derek) the day of the procedure.  But, I really wish he would have been more "with it" when the good Doctor came in, because the first thing he (doctor) said (and I quote) ,"GOOD CALL on him needing an Endoscopy!! We took ALOT of biopsies" Yes, boy in a way I wanted him to go out and come back in the room so I could get that on video! haha but I am a much more humble person than to do something like that! Now I am not going to sit here and pat myself on the back while I type, but I will just say it is a good thing he had the procedure! He was put on some meds and has had NO problems since! I am not going to say "TOLD YOU SO!", so I will just say, "YOU'RE WELCOME BUD! It was only because I love you!" ;)

Now, I doubt that Derek will ever let me schedule any kind of appointment for him again.  Because a few days after the Endoscopy he got a bad infection which landed him admitted IN the hospital for 2 days.  Wow, did I feel bad :( All the while I was wondering and worrying about the results of the biopsies......the biopsies all came back good, but he will be needing an Endoscopy every few years and he can now consider himself an "established patient." haha

While Derek was in the hospital, the boys stayed in Logan and wanted to visit him so they did!

And once again Derek would not allow any pictures so I took pictures of his hospital room! :)

I am very glad I didn't remove him from our health insurance policy....(never would) But, did he really have to use it in THIS way?!?! haha Just glad he is feeling better!

So I guess bottom line HUSBANDS LISTEN TO YOUR WIVES! And wives, KEEP YOUR HUSBAND on your INSURANCE!! lol

USU bball Championship game

The boys were in heaven when Grandpa and Grandma called and invited them to participate in some March Madness, and go to the Championship game between UTAH STATE vs Mercer. They quickly ran into their room and found their Aggie gear, and it resulted in THIS! :)

They walked around the house practicing their chants for the game, and Big H tried to teach Lil H the Scotsman.....he got the words down, but the arms WILL take some practice, we should be good by football season!

They love watching for Grandpa and Grandma to come to our house.....

Big H said it was a good game (got the play by play and stats when he got home lol ), but in the end the Aggies ended up losing last second (literally) 70-67.

Hogle Zoo

HOGLE ZOO

I was admitted to the hospital for a few days this past spring, while I was having a blast pushing the button on the Morphine pump... the boys were having a blast staying at Grandma and Grandpas house for a few days. One of the days Gpa and Gma decided to take the boys (including their little cousin and Aunt Ju) to Hogle Zoo. The boys had a FUN time and loved seeing all the animals! Here are some pics from that fun day :)Lil H's favorite animal was OF COURSE the MONKEYS. Big H thought the Crocodiles were cool!

SPRING FUN 2012

This past Spring was a busy one filled with several fun activities here and there.  Here are a few things we did!

HOME DEPOT

Every first Saturday you can go to the Home Depot and make a craft! Derek and I took the boys and they made a bird feeder! It was cool. The boys even have an official Home Depot apron! They collect pins after each craft they finish also.

Lil H chose to paint his bird feeder his favorite colors which is Blue and Yellow!

Big H went with his favorite colors also, Orange and Black.  They did a very good job!

They painted and even used a hammer! Yeah, scary thought with Lil H I know! haha But, we all left with all fingers and thumbs in tact! Way to go boys! :)

BOB DYLAN

Big H was invited to participate in the Gifted and Talented program at his school. He was told that he chose to accept the invite he would be the only 1st grader, the other participants were 4th and 5th graders, he would have to miss recess on Wednesdays, and some of the projects would be pretty time consuming. We left the ball is his court for this decision, and he decided that sounded like something he would want to participate in.  So every Wednesday while his friends were outside having fun during recess Big H was hanging out with older kids expanding his knowledge in Gifted and Talented. At the very end of the school year he presented a project they had been working on for a while.  He was given a list of names of people and chose to be Bob Dylan!

I must say I think he was the cutest Bob Dylan ever! He did an awesome job when his turn came up! He spoke loud and clear! He had quite the fan club there also! He has amazing family support! His 1st grade teacher even came to listen!
He is excited to participate in Gifted and Talented again next year! The Gifted and Talented teacher already invited to participate again! :)
